I've seen this in person. I'm less than 20 miles from Troy.

Re: A Joke or Two...

Went out last night and got really wasted. I woke up in the middle of the night next to some chick who was snoring and farting, so I knew I made it home OK! The wife's back on the warpath again. She was up for making a sex movie last night, and all I did was suggest we should hold auditions for her ...

Re: Penetrating Oils

I worked for an old timer that used a mix of mineral spirits, ATF and Marvel Mystery Oil.
The stuff seemed to get-er done.

Re: Maz's FZ750 Project

Maz I've got an 18" front wheel that looks just like that one.

It came off of an 82CB750SC (Nighthawk) Don't know how bad the freight
would be but, if you're ever in need of one, It's yours for the freight.

Re: Where to have welds tested?

I've been an inspector for many years, and have considerable experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). Also a CWI. I personally second the suggestion to use practice welds and destructive test them. 2 of the common NDT methods are surface only, why bother... PT (dye penetrant) uses a solvent c...

Re: Where to have welds tested?

I understand your view on the subject....I was simply offering an alternative to costly mag, radio, or ultrasound testing. Most common newb welder mistake is not running your heat high enough, which in turn leaves unpenetrated weld that can be easily spotted. The ride/test was my attempt at humor.l...

Re: Where to have welds tested?

The ultimate test of your welding skills or abilities...build it than RIDE it.. Any reputable welding shop in your town should...remember SHOULD be able to do a visual inspection. They can also suggest methods for you to improve your skills or offer advice. Most guys who weld will be happy to help ...

Re: Where to have welds tested?

There is a simple home test you can do that doesn't require banging and beating. Unless you want to have every inch of your welds magna-fluxed, pt dye tested, ultrasound of X-rayed you are going to, at some point, trust your welding skills. 1. do your welds look good? Shitty looking welds are more o...

Re: How much will a Paughco springer rocker move

That's a hard question to answer because it depends on where you decide to measure the movement at. In general the axle will deflect about 1.5" if you're using 6" springs with stock length rockers. The geometry is basically worked out based up your free spring length and rocker length mea...

Re: Learn to weld

Spend the money and go to the local college, you will learn more faster and you will learn the right way and how to tell difference between good and bad. That's not always true. I've seen some guys who graduated from both beginners and intermediate welding courses at local community colleges that c...

Maz, I am so, so sorry to hear this. I am sending you a giant cyber hug across the pond as I type. Just remember, as long as he is still alive in your heart, he's never really gone. He's just transcended to a different plane. When you need it most you will still feel his tender touch or catch a whif...
