Re: 1979 Honda CB750 Bobber build

This is my first build so i'm far from an expert but I read that slugs should be double the tube width. So if your using a 1" tube you would want a 2" slug minimum. Maz could prolly be able to give us some pointers there.

Re: 1979 Honda CB750 Bobber build

Hey no problem, how long do you want them to be? Or do you want me to just make them like 6" and you cut them to size?

Re: 1979 Honda CB750 Bobber build

Nice build, I made my slugs out of heavy walled DOM tube and machined to size which worked out pretty well. Wouldn't mind machining you a set if you like. I have more stock or 1" solid stock also if you like. I would need sizes or a piece of the tubing your using to go by. Let me know, not sure...

Re: Maz's FZ750 Project

Love it, I've never seen anyone use the tubing on a diamond before really gives it a whole different look. Great Work Maz. :banana-dance:

Re: 83 Honda Shadow

Thanks everyone for all the kind words, I am currently working on the slugs for the downtubes. My downtubes are factory original 1.25 outside erw tubing, I made some slugs out of 1.25 x .250 wall DOM tubing. This allowed me to be able to turn a step in the slug to match the inside of the erw and be ...

Re: 83 Honda Shadow

Yes, I didn't have any 5/8" material so I used two 1/2" plates welded together. It's a little thick but since it was my first build I figured it would be a little safer. Im debating the final weld up of the girder, I don't know whether to mig it or tig it. I have used mig for many years an...

Re: 83 Honda Shadow

Here is what I ended up with for the final layout, I still have some welding to do and the girder will set back a little further after I make another set of trees. The ones on it now won't allow for correct trail and must be changed. http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p558/Barry_Crabtree/Photo0153....

Re: Maz's FZ750 Project

Hey Maz, got a couple questions for ya...What wall thickness and what size square tubing do you use for your diamond girder build ? is it cold rolled tubing? I wanted to use square tubing on my girder build but since it was my first I thought I better stick to round tubing instead. Thanks in advance...
