Re: Girder Build help
So has anyone ever built an aluminum girder? The yokes would be steel but thinking aluminum tubing for the legs either that or use 7/8 DOM steel, any thoughts?

Re: Girder Build help
Should have ready more of the build guide before posting up. I got some answers but created more too, haha. It looks like I can use the .120 wall without any issues as this will be a short front end. The stock hydraulic forks have been shortened 2" to give you an idea. As for the yokes, if I re...

Girder Build help
Well, I was thinking about building a springer for my current build but changed my mind. I think a girder might fit the build better and the springer I want to build will go better on a longer bike I think. The bike I am putting this on is an 81 Ironhead Chop and it has a minimalist approach so the ...

Re: Leg "spuds"
Sorry I have been moving from the east coast the the west. Damn, I should have done this way sooner. Anyway, I will be picking this project up again real soon. I have springs, rockers, and axle so I have a few parts towards getting this thing built.

I will try to get the measurements tonight of the rear legs. I know the OD is 1 1/4" not sure of ID though. I would love to see what you came up with for yours.

Re: Leg "spuds"
Yeah I have talked with and crime scene Choppers with no luck. Pearson is to busy with builds and crime scene didn't really give a reason just that they weren't making them any more. Curt, I would be interested in hearing why you want to change yours. Is it a looks thing or do you think the spuds wo...

Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Jake and I just got my 81 Ironhead chop on the road a few months back. It is not done, I am not sure it ever will be. Must recent thing is I need to do powder coat and paint. I am also wanting to change up my front end to a spool and sprin...

Leg "spuds"
Does anybody know somewhere that is already producing "leg spuds". I hope that is what they are called. It is the bottom part that is machined to attach the legs to the rockers. I have seen several people just use round stock welded perpendicular to the legs, I think Curt did his this way....
