Re: radius tool

Man I love my 9" SB! I know we all like to build things from scratch, but there comes a point when you have to say uncle. I've been threatn' to build these for about 2 years now but never pulled the trigger. Look under "Chris's Tips"... there are some basic dimensions that will get yo...

Re: Opinion needed

Probably WAAAAAY more that you wanted, but..... I made some conservative assumptions (A36 steel w/ 0.33Fy allowable bending stress = 11.8ksi, 0.25"thick x 3"wide x 8" long) and came up with a max load of 46lb each bracket before failure due to bending stress. In reality you could prob...

Re: 58 sporty project

065 is a bit too thin. some stainless grades welds better than others and some are not even recommended for welding applications. Other than that I won't even pretend to know the ins/outs about that material (there's just too much to it), other than to say be careful and 065 is too thin, in general.

Re: New HD Evo or S&S for hardtail

You prob don't want to pay this much, but I have a line on a brand new (still in crate) TP121 engine (polished, Mikuni HRS carb, Eldebrock Intake and I'm guessing electronic ignition as well - that's typically how they shipped them). These things go for arond $6900... sale for $5k USD + shipping. Th...

Re: Opinion needed

Jeff - If I understand the concept, you really only need bracing on the underside. What's the span length (distance from tube to tube?) If the weld is good and 110lbs is max, probably don't even need it, but shear would be your primary force... and local bending of the plates. May want to move the b...
