Another leader build

I finally got materials for the leafer. I have the holes drilled and the upper yoke rough cut. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a163/heaton22/ken/IMAG0361.jpg It's gonna be a while before I get anything else done because I'm still working on the neck and hardtail of the frame it's going on. Just wa...

Flake!

Has anyone shot flake through a 1.4 tip. Everything I have found online says don't try it with anything less than a 1.7. Problem is, I only have a 1.4 and I'm ready to spray it tomorrow. It's Roth Black .004" and will be in Omni 260 clear.

Re: Can this frame be saved?

Just realized the links Hans posted show exactly how the steering neck is positioned and the casting.

Re: Can this frame be saved?

This is about where the original neck goes. I haven't had time clean it up yet. You can see in the pic where the top tube goes into and is brazed to the neck casting

Re: Can this frame be saved?

Yes, the neck and numbers are part of the same casting. I was planning to weld a new steering neck to it so the numbers would remain intact. This is basically how it was raked before. I should prob post more pics when I get it cleaned up so everyone can see where the original steering neck was. I do...

Can this frame be saved?

I have an old Triumph frame that came with a lot of parts I picked up a few years ago. It was raked to 47 by grinding the neck down even with the top tube and boxing what was left of the original neck with 1/4" plate and then adding a new neck. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a163/heaton22/ke...

Re: Leafer Yokes

I called a few machine shops today hoping to find drop pieces of CRS for the yokes and other parts so I don't have to buy large pieces. Found a guy that said he thinks he has 5/8, 1/2 and 3/8 left over from a job. He's suppose to check tomorrow and let me know.

Leafer Yokes

I sent the leafer files to a shop with a cnc plasma (following great advice from the board!). Just got off the phone with the guy and he said he only had 5/8 hot rolled A36. He can get CRS but I have to buy the whole sheet. I read in Gary's thread that hot rolled is crap and should not be used. So m...

Re: CNC simulation

No shop wants a plug and play program, cnc equipment is very expensive, that is why programers get big bucks. Im finding that the shops that have cnc equipment are not interested in small jobs. I sent the leafer files from the cd to a local shop with a water jet three weeks ago and the guy told me ...

CNC simulation

I've been practising with draftsight and would like to be able to create and run a simulated program to see a 3d rendering of the parts I make. Problem is I don't know shit about cnc. I was told I needed a CAM program to create the g-code and a cnc simulations program. I'm using a macbook and have s...

Re: Tube for leafer

Yep. I'm building it for a budget bike I'm trying to build with my extra parts. If it turns out as cool as I think it will, it may go on current rider.

Tube for leafer

I'm having a hard time finding 1"x.134 DOM that the plans call for. I can get 1"x.156 but wanted to check here for pros and cons of using thicker wall tubing first. Is .134 an uncommon wall size? Is there a downside to using .156?

Thanks guys. I have a lot more work to do but garage time is slim with a 4 year old consuming most of my time.
