Online Engineering Calculators
http://www.calculatoredge.com/english.htm#mechanical This site has different sections, mechanical, structural, oil & gas, etc. In the mechanical section, listed above, I noticed some calculations for leaf springs, but didn't look in depth. Possibly useful for someone planning on building a leafe...

Re: seeking shop services
The trailer will only have one wheel.....
Should be able to lean with the bike if any tipping is needed.

On the sketch, does the point labeled "PR" stand for "point of rotation"?

Re: seeking shop services
Here are a couple pix of u-joint style couplers... hitch.jpg hitch2.jpg The top hitch seems a home made copy of the lower one. I understand the concern about the towing forces being detrimental to a u-joint configuration hitch, but if a common u-joint is used, it could be easily checked, and easily ...

Re: seeking shop services
I think I gave you bad advice. I just realized you're planning a single wheeled trailer. A swivel connection would just allow the trailer to tip over. Bad, bad, bad advice. Here is an interesting link to a thread about towing trailers with 2 wheelers. http://www.burgmanusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f...

Re: One of my pastimes
While I was hauling meat to the truck, I had such a load Jesse waited at the moose. I didn't think too much about it at the time, but in the back of my mind I noticed that not much was done when I got back after each meat run. I didn't realize until years later that Jesse was sitting there by a moos...

Re: One of my pastimes
It was a very good day. We got off the wheeler, hiked down the trail, and when I got to a place I could see down the ridge, those big antlers were flashing in the sun like a big sheet of plywood. I started running down the trail cause it was a couple miles down, thinking my buddy Jesse was right beh...

Re: seeking shop services
I recommend you not use a pin for each end of the coupler. I built a steering column using 2 sections of square stock and a u-joint in the middle pinned at each end, and the steering took considerable more effort in some locations of the rotation than in others. I switched u-joints and used a slip f...

I think you mean dropped rocker???????rudog wrote: If, however, you make the statement that minimising trail will make a bike handle better, it still alows for a dropped axle.
In the illustration, the axle is the same height in both set ups.

Re: One of my pastimes
Here is a picture of the results of a hunting trip in about 1993 or 1994. My buddy Jesse is standing at the rear of my truck, parked in front of his house right after we got back to town. We hunted all day, both got lucky at dusk. I got the moose and he got the black bear. The moose rack on the fron...

Re: Dangerous Bike
Had this and the story in my old files....Looking at that seat, gives the meaning, " chestnuts ....roasting ". a whole new meaning !!!!!!! I thought the same thing when I saw the headers and seat so close together. Plus the chain on the right side, just a little cloth pulled in would suck...
