Re: Kandy

The pierced overlays on the tubing around the neck intersection are very creative and something that gives the frame that 'personalized' stamp. It's a lot of work but well worth doing it. Most people have no idea how much time and effort go into a custom frame like this. Not just shop time but 'brai...

Re: hi

I guess I don't have many excuses for not posting stuff myself. I'm building tons of stuff but nothing is to the point of being worth taking a picture of.

Re: hi

I'm starting to think that there are no real men left in the world and certainly no men who actually make stuff with their own hands.

Re: The 'Real Deal' Dick Allen Memorial Biker Build Off

Depending upon where the builds are located and the number of entrants 'monitoring' is tentatively going to be undertaken by various club chapters across the country and by people who were involved in the organization of the Canon Ball vintage bike races.

The 'Real Deal' Dick Allen Memorial Biker Build Off

da-build-off-1.JPG Darcy Allen, Dick's daughter and Mike (Fass Mikey) Vils have decided to stage a Build Off for folks who actually build stuff, by hand, in their own garages and then actually ride what they build. I've posted a link to the tentative 'rules' on the index page of the main site. Thre...

Re: Need to Contact Ken Venus

It aligns the primary and secondary drive chains (belts) so the tranny doesn't pull studs under hard acceleration and it gets the primary up out of the way so it doesn't drag on hard corners. If you do it the chopper way as opposed to the racer way it also drops the frame around 1-inch in the rear. ...

Yeah, I mentioned it. Raising the tranny used to be one of the first things you did when chopping a scooter.

Re: Need to Contact Ken Venus

The linkdin thing is a dead end but Ken emailed me today. The Biker network works a lot faster than the Interweb as the Gas Monkey guy calls it. Technoloy is great but it sucks when you have to actually get something done and word of mouth travels instantly. Thanks everybody. The reason I wanted to ...

Re: Dan's Knuckle build continued (10,000 ways to skin a cat

Build an 'automatic kicker'. That's a gizmo that's been on my list for about 40 years now but never got around to doing it. Drag guys have been doing it for decades. Now that I'm a lot older the idea sounds better and better.

That looks to be almost a perfect shock for a Girder. Could you post the make and model for us if you didn't already do it and I missed it.

Do not lift the ban on those 'free' email services. Those servers are lurker and spammer heaven. This board is about building. It's not a social media site so it doesn't need 10,000 lurking members and five contributors like most of the other boards where you can't find the good posts without wading...

Re: painting stainless steel

The 'stainless' alloys were developed for applications where a 'coating' would be intrusive to the environment intended for the material, such as labs, kitchens, hospital, process piping etc. It is not a user friendly material and eats up tooling and becomes very brittle when welded so I wouldn't us...
