Re: Indian Mark's 1911 build

Yep, my voices have interesting ideas but they won't help!

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

Getting a little closer to shape. The timer rides on the outer bearing race that sets proud of the adapter with a slot and guide plate on the outside The reluctor mounting plates that allow each reluctor to be time seperately are made but the photo didn't come out. https://i.postimg.cc/4dZwTbPV/2021...

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

Centering the A-dapter plates (as Johnny Cash said). Once they are centered I'll drill holes for the pins that will keep everything straight.

Got the bottom of the timer cut to shape and the guide plate relief cut in the side.

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

Started building the timer. A piece of 1" plate from the scrapyard and some quality time with a hole saw yielded this blank https://i.postimg.cc/y65bWHGL/20210220-154537-1.jpg A little time going in a circle yielded the basic shape. https://i.postimg.cc/1317cKs6/20210220-154600-1.jpg Dusty

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

Got the drive tabs ground onto the cams and the cams in place hopefully for a while. As far as I can on the adapter until I can until the timer is built and I just started making the shaft. If I was going to do anything with the bike other than race at Bonneville I would either shorten the pump or d...

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

This ought to make all the pristine parts restoration crowd cringe. Grinding the end off the front cam to get to the distance I need to grind the tang that will fit into the slot in the timer drive I'm going to make.

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

Band aided the lathe back together maybe good enough to last until the new parts get here. But for sure long enough to get rid of those pesky gear teeth and make it fit into the adapter. https://i.postimg.cc/4NcQKpbZ/20210114-103621.jpg I now have a Sportster oil pump that drives by a slot and tang....

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

Started slotting the drive gear on the sporty pump. Strangest setup I've ever made. An end mill would polish it a little This was actually pretty quick. I started grinding the teeth off and something broke in the lathe power feed so I'm headed in the lathe repaiir direction next. https://i.postimg.c...

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

After 2 days of nothing making any sense I figured that the matched set of valve lifts had one exhaust lift that that was .090 shorter than the other. Think different ratio rocker arm on one valve Damn I hate e-bay sellers! Got that replaced with one out of my bucket of miss matched lift shafts. the...

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

Made an A-dapter out of a 3/4" bolt to mount the S&S degree wheel to the Scout. Soon as I make a couple of drive pins and press the cams together it'll be time to index the cams.

Re: Dusty's Bonneville Scout Build

I think It needs a little more lift and duration so It's getting Schunk lobes https://i.postimg.cc/rpRtWb0k/20201105-160225.jpg Just need to take the old lobes off. Good thing I got a 100 grit eraser https://i.postimg.cc/QChB2d68/20201105_160439.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/tJk1pGfh/20201105_160602.jpg ...
