Re: Dan's Knuckle build continued (10,000 ways to skin a cat)

Cool.... Good to hear from you... my daily ride is a 2010 Dyna that I got a good deal on, a "Street Bob", a stripped down model. But the rear motor group mount, called an isolator on these motors, has broken, or the trans case mount for the isolator is broken, found out that happens, but I...

Re: EUROPEAN IDEA OF AMERICAN STYLE BREAKFAST

The Hawaiian version of this breakfast is called a "Loco Moco", and is a large bowl of white rice, a huge hamburger patty well cooked, and a couple of fried eggs, usually sunny side up, but some prefer over easy, and covered with gooey brown gravey.... A couple cups of steamy hot coffee an...

Re: drought

For me it was getting one of my hands caught in an industrial steel cutting chop saw, lucky I didn't lose the hand, but it has been a long recovery, am back to about 50% with that hand, and am trying to get some work done out in the shop, but it has really slowed me down. Four bike projects just sit...

Re: 62 Chopped FL Rebuild

Rode my 2010 Dyna (Street Bob) today, first time since I injured my clutch hand.
Was ok, was able to work the clutch just fine.
Don't have a lot of endurance though, will have to build up on that.
Was sure fun to get back into the wind though, felt fine as good wine....

Re: 62 Chopped FL Rebuild

Just a quick update.... My left hand is still pretty messed up, having a heck of a time getting it functional again, the Doc says it will take awhile, guess I get impatient and want it back to normal, like, now.... Been messin' around a bit with the Denver's frame, smoothing and cleaning the welds t...

Re: 62 Chopped FL Rebuild

Found some time to work on this bike a little, have a different clutch control I like better than the first one I had, and it's for a 1" bar: http://www.wheelsmaui.com/UserFiles/Image/62FLProject/handlebarcontrols15sMar2015.JPG It's got an electrical switch built in, not sure what that's suppos...

Re: 62 Chopped FL Rebuild

These nice handlebar controls for the Suzuki disk brake I put on the front wheel showed up today. Found this pair of early Honda cb750 controls, 5/8" piston bore, perfect for a single caliper disk setup.... I like the round style brake fluid reservoir better than the rectangular ones seen aroun...

Re: 62 Chopped FL Rebuild

Bought a quart of PPG, JAU Direct Gloss Acrylic Urethane in Torch Red. Got my gun out and blew some red on the tank and rear fender. Now we're gettin' back to the old color, I had originally sprayed this color in lacquer, don't remember how many coats, but there were a bunch, each hand rubbed.... ht...

Re: 62 Chopped FL Rebuild

I have the vin of the Suzuki my front disk brake setup came off of, went online and found it was a 1985 Madura GV700 V4, found a caliper rebuild kit for it online and ordered it. A 700 cc V4? Man, with 175 cc cylinders, with 4 valves per, that motor must have been a screamer.... Now looking for a ma...

Re: 62 Chopped FL Rebuild

Had to keep trimming the bottom of that upper piece until I got a good fit against the side of the fork slider and the brake lug.... http://www.wheelsmaui.com/UserFiles/Image/62FLProject/62FLfrontbrake109sFeb2015.JPG This piece now fits snugly against the side of the fork slider when bolted up solid...

Re: 62 Chopped FL Rebuild

Rough cut these two pieces for the brake caliper support from some 1/4" scrap steel I had on the junk pile.... Left plenty of room around the edges to reshape as necessary.... http://www.wheelsmaui.com/UserFiles/Image/62FLProject/62FLfrontbrake102sJan2015.JPG The bottom piece overlaps behind th...
