Re: Two seater trike
I did the axles myself after talking with my old friend that is a machinist/drag racer. What I did is cut the axle off at the bearing journal and then I bored them out from the flange side all the way through. I prepped the flange side for a socket wels and then pressed the axles in through the jour...

Doing this for a friend in Maryland. Working with an old Audi rear. Here are the original axles that I later took 4" off each side. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p189/spennebake/2012-05-04_16-47-34_281.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p189/spennebake/2012-05-17_15-05-01_685.jpg Chang...

Re: Harman
the OG harman springs were 14.5" long, .118" dia wire with 41 full coils and a ground flat coil on each end to make the full 42. They were topped of with a nylon bushing at the top and a metal weld in retainer at the bottom. they had 6* of rake built into the whole front end. Thank You!

Re: Stroking stock flywheels
Yes, he REALLY is a friend & we also work together. He'll be helping with all the machining (including the heads. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel, but I'm going primitive. Because that is what the budget allows since the engine/trans are the only things I'm keeping, everything else is goin...

Re: Stroking stock flywheels
Here's my thoughts. A set of T&O wheels is around 350 bucks, unbalanced/bare. Why reinvent the wheel? Machinist time in our area starts around 80/hr. I know you say you have a machinist friend but REALLY???? Save the money, get some wheels and put your time and effort into something more feasibl...

Re: Harman
the original legs were .065 wall x 1.00 OD chromoly so the springs had to fit inside of them. I can give you a spring size that will work where i get back home to my notebook. A 100lbs spring rate should work fine. That's really cool. I am not looking to steal ideas and try and start production or ...
