Paulie Jr. Moving to Napa

Post by gww25 »

It's official. Paulie Jr. (PJD) is moving his custom chopper operations to Napa California. He has already hired a noted local artist to do the art work and sculptures for the new 'studios' (I guess it's to fancy to be a shop). If all goes as planned PJD will be moving into a building that was supposedly on the Historical Register and set aside for preservation but I guess big bucks talks and it looks like he gets to make this old structure his new base of operations. I guess I'll have to go down and worship at his feet once he gets up and running. It's hard to believe how much money is behind this pitiful excuse for a bike builder but I guess television is 'all-powerful' in todays society. It's a pretty sad state of affairs as far as real Chopper Building goes.

His shit is so gay maybe he should move his shop to San Fransisco!
Right smack dab in the middle of the Castro!

I lost $800 in San Fran once. Dropped my wallet and kicked the damn thing all the way to Oakland before I dared to bend over and pick it up! :laughing-rolling: :o   :confusion-shrug: :laughing-rolling:

Having watched a little of the OCC soap opera over here in the UK I can't get my head around why it's so popular. Here in the UK there are a few builders that are chasing the dream of charging mega pounds (Mega and a half bucks) for a chopper. They seem to go bankrupt pretty damn quick though.

Most shed builders/bikers seem to treat it all with the distain that it deserves.

Personaly I'm much happier being in the workshop listening to the radio whilst making something....... Anything :auto-dirtbike:

We need a bike building programme that is a bit like the New Yankee Worshop with Norm Abraham. Ya know when they actually show you how to make something from scratch!

Anyhow I'm off to bed. Got to be in the workshop early for a delivery of heavy wall seamless..... I'll post pics and info over Christmas of what I'm making ;) ;)
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it!

At the risk of being struck off everyone's X-mas list: what's the problem with Paulie Jr? He got lucky and now people pay him to play in his workshop. I wish that deal would land in my lap. I don't like the bikes he puts together but then I doubt he'd like mine.

The guy's making a living good luck to him.

I'm a 100% behind your sig. I don't give a fuck how OCC do it either, but then I don't give a fuck how anyone else does it either. I still don't think it's cool to slag off other peoples' work because you don't share their taste in bikes.

I just don't like them...I am about an hour from Daytona and have had two run-ins with them...First time they had their "Bouncers try to remove me from their area because I would not buy anything and asked what the sig on my shirt meant....so I told senior....he was not happy... LOL...then a year later I caught them off loading bike in Jacksonville to make the run to Bike Week .....I could not pass up the op to fuck with them and they acted like a bunch of bitches....If I can critque people on here , I will damn sure tell those two what I think.....Since kicking my old ass is not hard , they should not have sicced their goons on me and when they are in my town and show their asses, they get a club escort to the county line...boxed by 10 in front, 10 in back, and 10 on the side , holding them to a single out side lane....I thought it was funny as hell....

Yep I agree. Good luck to them all. They have made a fortune and that's great

I do have a problem with that show and the television business as a whole.

It has raised the profile of motorcycling and the custom builder but has also created unrealistic expectations amongst many other issues

We need to have more stuff that educates rather than going to the lowest common denominator. Within this show and others like it your unlikely to learn anything of use.

Yes we have the internet and lovely places like this that educate those of us that have the desire to find out but younger people in general need something to inspire them other than the desire to be rich and famous.

TV in the UK is dominated by "reality" shows that bare no resembelance to real life. Shows like this which are just entertainment have a place but just less of them and balanced by some more "in detail stuff"

Yes I know that the TV companies put on the shows that people watch the most but they dictate it too and they could make more of an effort.

Sadly the endless pursuit of fame and wealth rather than happiness and knowledge will mean we carry on down the same road eh

I'll continue to help and off advice to anyone I can and hope one day things change a little for the better

With all the money Paul Jnr has now earned I would use it to help others learn to build rather churn out Theme Bikes.

He'd still earn alot of cash and would be doing something usefull.

Maybe he does this already but keeps it secret eh

My late father inlaw called the television the idiots lantern  A bit of a sweeping statement but there is some truth in it.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it!

I kind of understand where you're going with your post. For years back when we first started when we were be bombarded with hate mail from dozens of so-called custom builders I issued a challenge for any of them to start posting technical information on their sites. Now almost 10 years later there are still no Internet web sites that post technical information of any kind. After all of these years there is still not a single site that can come close to providing what the Handbook site provides. This only confirmed what I knew a long time ago and that was that most of the big name builders weren't nearly as technically savy as they claimed to be, or they didn't want to share any information.

There is probably a place for each and every one of us on this great planet....... I just think that this forum belongs to the folks that are here to share their expertise, their blood, sweat and tears and be there for each other :snooty: Yep, some of us are trying to scratch a living with our work whilst others are just in for the one build or maybe haven't even got that far yet.......

As for the Paulie Jr's of this world, good luck to them for as long as it lasts, but they will find just like those before them that when the TV deal runs out so does their luck and their fortune....... :hand:

Keep building guys :banana-dance:

Most pepole's "problem" with Junior is because he's not very good.
The tell tale tickle of ashphalt on the sagging underbelly of my lowered expectations.

I agree the show is a load of crap. If you want some 'intresting' builds check out the Channel 4 Website and look for Scrapheap Challenge.
