- SELF INTRODUCTION: I was on the last board as bonustoolkit. I have changed that to my given name.
I started a project build there " File and Fit." I paln to continue that when I go back home in Dec. 2011. I first joined the board when Gary W had it in the year 2005. That was the time I really gained an interest in building chops. I have a long way to go, compared to some here.
An adventure tour.....
...............has been rumbling around in my head for years. I'm not getting any younger. I'm a fool. South America has always been in my imagination.

Re: An adventure tour.....
Its surprising how sometimes the dots connect. I was in Winnipeg , Mn. last week. I met with a friend of my son's, and the conversation rolled into Che Guevara, and the movie/book "The Motorcycle Diaries" and how the trip through S. America changed his life. I have not seen the movie, but will rent it.
So I am back home now, and while driving, saw a sign to an "estate sale." I went in and started to B.S. with the owner; he was selling all he owned to move to Belize. He then spoke of travelling the Pan-American highway from Alaska to the tip of South America.
That's a very long way.

Re: An adventure tour.....
dude, you have no idea how bad i want to do something like that. or the Road of Bones to Magadan, or the TCAT.
unfortunately, being the primary caregiver for one 7 and one 6 year old, that pretty much precludes anything like that happening for a few years. once they get bigger though...
if you do take a trip like this you have to keep a log for us. any idea what kind of bike?

Probably something like this but who knows. 800 cc, still heavy; maybe something smaller.

Charlie Boorman struggled bigtime on the road to Magadan with the 1200 Bmw. after he injured himself after a spill.

- SELF INTRODUCTION: Hi Dan, thanks for your time and energy spent on this new board. I hope you will give me a waiver on the email account, I have used gmail so long I don't have a clue what my service provider account is.
I just returned home from a 2 week trip in New Mexico, have a few good pix, can't wait to share my off-highway traveling. Got to put 1400 miles on the scoot.
