SELF INTRODUCTION: I'm a guy who likes motorcycles. Can never have too many. Finally got out of the corporate gig in automation, and started my own business. I make motorcycle parts, (not custom chopper parts at this time). Do my own design and manufacturing. I do CAD, CAM, and CNC. Always wanted to build my own bike (chopper-bobber-prostreet). Finally decided to get started. So I'm here, looking at ideas, soaking up information. Nice place here, think I'll stay a while.

Just joined this group so thought I would introduce myself.

I have been into motorcycles since a youngster, and have owned more than 20 in my lifetime. I currently design and manufacture motorcycle parts, mostly dropped foot pegs, but no custom chopper parts just yet. I just want to say that I'm not here to sell you parts. I do the design( 3d Cad in SolidWorks), the CAM (CNC machine code), and most of the operation of running the machines myself. All of that is the easy part. Getting machines to run, and keeping them running is a whole nuther story. I have an automation background, which had me building and installing large automation lines all over the world. And then into management. And lastly tired of the whole rat race, and started my own business. But the automation background is what keeps me up and running. I never call 1-800-HELP when I have to install or repair one of my cnc machines. And I'm sure the military background in electronics and other things has helped in many more ways.

It has been on the bucket list to design and build my own custom bike for many years, but growing a new business takes way too much of my time. Now that I've gotten some years behind me in the business, it's time to start on the custom bike. So here I am, experienced in design and manufacturing parts, and a complete newbie to design and build of my own custom bike. Lots to learn, lots of new skills to develop.

I have been all over the board, and the website. Wow ! So much information, so freely shared. Gives me great encouragement that I can actually start and finish the bike build, and meet some cool people along the way.

Anyway, I'm looking at doing a custom Bobber as my first bike, with a Girder front end. I have a large tubing bender, so frame isn't a big issue. I have zero experience in sheet metal, so it will be some trial and error, but I'm accustomed to doing things that aren't suppose to work. :D
I'm too ignorant to know that this isn't suppose to work...
