folks, i just successfully backed up the whole forum, and over the next few days i'm gonna (hopefully) perform a long-overdue upgrade under the hood of the site.

so if you come to the site some time over the next week or so and it's down, it's ok (probably) and will be back up the next day at the latest (unless i totally screw it up, then i'll be spending a couple of sleepless nights trying to rebuild the forum).

ok guys and gals, it seems like the upgrades were successful, which means i won't have to stay up all night for the next 3 days as usual when i'm upgrading the board's software (which is nice for a change).

i still expect for us to encounter some weirdness, so as you find it, let me know about it. i already see that our intros are showing now, which i may be able to turn off with a switch somewhere, or i may just leave it if that's the general consensus. anyway, test drive the new software and let me know what you folks think.

Well I see something that is annoying , You no longer get a "View new posts" button after sign in !

It is preferable (to me at least) not to have to scan thru the entire page looking for new posts when they can be accessed as a group the way it was before this update !

look at the little thing in the upper left hand corner called "Quick Links." it's in there now.

i was worried about that too, at first!
