Rear Axle Plates welding?

Hi guys,
while I was chamfering the rear axle plates, an unexpected question rose up in my mind...
Do I have to weld them from the inside also (so that I have to chamfer both sides of the plates), or it's enough to weld them from the outside only?
Keep in mind that my plates won't be in the middle of the milled tubes, like in Gary's plans, but flush with the inside of the tubes, with the tubes simply resting on top & bottom of the plate..

Oh, and btw, these are the plates almost ready to be welded.. ;P

Personally I would weld them both sides. Just take your time and don't overheat them or the tubing.

Well, I thought that considering my axle plates configuration, maybe the weld beads could interfere with the wheel spacers or something..
Yes, I tend to overthink stuff...
Many thanks to everybody!

It may not be a problem unless you slide the wheel/axle as far back as it will go.

Do a mockup with the axle plates tacked in. If it's OK, weld it up.

What Hans said....I did notice the slot looked like it might be a little tight

It is a little tight but.. however
I do not plan to move the axle to the far end of the plate anyhow, so.. ;)

"TIG" them and the welds should clear just fine.
