Frame problem!
So we started a bike for a build off competition. Everything was great...a week before build off we were patiently waiting for front end that was being cusTom made by American Suspension....Vampire King with Brass Legs and Black shark tooth accesnts. We were doing prostreet type build. We knew the front end was pushing time restraints.... but we had everything else mocked up and just waiting to slap the new front end and the new 23" black chystal wheels from RC components.....day of arrival 3 days before event...open box exciTedly...slap the triple trees on, slid first leg into triple trees and the front end was 2" inches from the floor....AmerI can Suspension had fabricated the front end 22" to long.....needless to say I was irrate...they wanted 1400 to resize the front end to the size that we needed.....so...here I am.
what I have....
1. 120" ultima motor
2.Eldebrock forward swept duAL throat intake.
3. Twin Mikuni 45s
4.baker RSD 6 speed tranny
5. Jay Brake tranny brake system
6. Legends softail air ride system with on board pump
7.23" front wheel
8.18x 300mm rear wheel
9. Vicious looking suicide shifter ( for strolling down the avenue.
10. Electric shifter ( switch added so you can switch on when you really want to hold on and see what she's got.
11.Accutronix foot controls with clutch
12. 3" open belt drive.
13. Custom bars with no hand controls. (Want nice clean bars with no controls flush mount grips and internal throttle cable).

So that being said. This is what I'm asking.....

WHAT FRAME DO I USE?????

With the 300mm rear, 23" front wheel,
and a 44" front end with 3 degree triple trees.

Remember this is to be a softail (air ride), must be 300 series Right Side Drive).

What I'm looking for is the frame set up. Proper stretches and rakes that will work with everything that I got already. I have the makings of a really nice bike about 20g worth of parts sitting here with a frame that I can't use. Frame I got would have to take out at 52 degrees to get front end to fit and then trail would be impossible to ride.

Please help with this math....lol.

If you want to build a frame to the front end will need.

1. The length of the forks overall extended.
2. Full compression of those forks length in distance they can travel.
3. Desired rake of bike when done. 44 degrees with 3 degrees extra in trees

The wheel spacing, swingarm, and engine dimensions you can get off existing frame.
But I will say to build a new frame will cost just as much if not more as getting the front end resized and a front that long will be either a swedish look or a high neck chopper?

The Hyd forks will not work right with a rake of 52 degrees[does not stop the swedish] but you could build a different front for the bike also. Springer Girder just a thought.

Yeah I've played it over in my head. ThE frame I got is going on shelf for a future build. The AS front end I got was 4700 bucks and looks keen as hell. So decided I didn't want to modify them to make them shorter. I do about 2 personal custom builds per year so nothing goes to waste. Right now I'm just mauling over the math to get a frame that will work with what I got...give me correct frame and within 2 weeks I will have completed build. This is the last stretch bike I'm building for awhile. I really have been hooked on building 120"+ custom baggers. I know this is a little backwards. Usually you have the frame and build around it....not the case here. I have a complete bIke minus a frame. Thank you. I am open for all ideas

Give me those 3 things and I will have a CAD print for you of your neck area.

The rest you get off your existing frame.

I can tell you the neck height from ground. Also will drop box you the file.

I also need wheel with tire overall diameter.
The neck length.
The width of your trees over all and thichness of plates.

I can just set the trail number at 3 inchs the normal used unless you want different.

The thickness of fork legs if you want it to look not just a straight line but that does not matter.

1. I will need the offset from the neck shaft centerline to the centerline of the Hyd forks on top tree.

2. Trail wanted I can just set the trail number at 3 inchs the normal used unless you want different.

3. The thickness of fork legs if you want it to look not just a straight line but that does not matter.

4. Wheel with tire overall diameter.

5. The neck length.

6. The width of your trees over all and thichness of plates.

7. The length of the forks overall extended.

8. Full compression of those forks length in distance they can travel. I will use the half point of this believing the manufacture made the forks right for weight of bike to use at trail number.

9. Desired rake of bike when done at neck. 44 degrees with 3 degrees extra in trees. I will add the 3 degrees to the trees front the neck of this number. Hyd forks 38 degrees is max suggested by Handbook to work properly so neck of 35 degrees max.

Once we get the neck Height Kyrmis can do his big tire calculations to get overall length of frame.

If you're going to build a new set of forks why change anything on the frame to begin with?? The bike would look kind of lame with a tiny little 35-degree rake. I'd run it as-is, just with a different set of forks.

Am I missing something? If they made the forks wrong, why would you have to pay to make them right? Seems to me they should be eating the cost.

he wants to know what frame to order.

http://rbracing-rsr.com/rakeandtrail.html

http://americansuspension.com/

at $4700 Id expect them to do calcs and send so an engineer, possibly of their choice, can mod their forks , its their product on show

do choppers these days have 23" wheel ?
I thought only big wheel dressers had them
