sorry guys
if you want, email it to me and i'll save it as a pdf and post it, or i'll host it directly on the server and put up a link to it. we can make it work, either way.

Well....after much delays, I finally got my axles back. I had to have a buddy weld up the flanges and machine the faces and index the bolt holes. My little lathe just is too small to turn a large diameter thats hardened.

He does the odd machine job for me for free....so if it takes months I really cannot complain!

Now I have to press the bearings and retaining rings onto the shaft....then into the aluminum housing.

SELF INTRODUCTION: Hi Dan, thanks for your time and energy spent on this new board. I hope you will give me a waiver on the email account, I have used gmail so long I don't have a clue what my service provider account is.
I just returned home from a 2 week trip in New Mexico, have a few good pix, can't wait to share my off-highway traveling. Got to put 1400 miles on the scoot.

Thank You!!!

I had been wanting to reverse engineer one of those ever since I saw one!!!!!

All I have is pics and a short video of assembly!!!!

What carraige spider gear assembly are you using and what is it out of???

I wish I was better in CAD I would make those up for you!!!

Thank You so much for sharing this and you do great work MAN!!!

Thanks man. The differential is a Dana 30 carrier and gears. I think certain Jeep front ends use them. I just picked it up off ebay though. Cant quite remember what I used for axles but as long as they have sufficient meat on them...you have to turn them down and shorten to fit anyhow.

and I verified yesterday that the sprocket lines up perfectly for a left side drive tranny with no offset sprockets or spacers needed. Manufacturer uses a Hawg Halter 4 piston caliper (around 400.00 new polished), I am going to use a right front caliper from a 2005 suzuki gsxr that is 4 piston (ebay for 35.00).

This Thread is GREAT!!!!!!!!

Thanks!!!

Dana 30
Image

Wiki says there is different variations??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_30

Here is a list of 4x4s with the dana 30 looks to be all jeeps front axles!!

http://www.4x4help.com/axle/axlevehicles2.htm

Specs on dana 30!! they say there are some with reverse rotation???

http://www.squidoo.com/dana-30

Is there an equation to know what sprockets to run with extra wieght of the assembly and rotational mass or is it still just a tire size conversion??

Here is probably the best view of the carrier that I used.

Not sure on the tire size/sprocket ratio as to the affect on the final speeds and power....learning curve for me too

here is the drawing I made up for the plates to connect the whole rear assembly to the frame. Buddy of mine is doing up the cut file in CAD and I'll post it here along with thanks for the work he helps me with!
