TRIKEZILLA - BMW V12 Trike

Post by Maz »

Hi guys, had a dude from Scotland ask me about building him a V8 trike....after a lot of planning and chatting, he finally turned up with a 5.4 litre BMW V12 motor and auto trans along wth a narrowed Jag IRS and some wide rubber.....guess I'm building him a V12 trike then....

SELF INTRODUCTION: I was on the last board as bonustoolkit. I have changed that to my given name.
I started a project build there " File and Fit." I paln to continue that when I go back home in Dec. 2011. I first joined the board when Gary W had it in the year 2005. That was the time I really gained an interest in building chops. I have a long way to go, compared to some here.

So for those of you who have missed me, I'm back, twice as big a bitch and stupidly busy.... :hand: oh yeah and we've been busy mocking up the V12 trike ready to finalise the frame design....

The forks are just mock-ups off another project - this one will need something a bit special

In the last pic you can see two of my crew (both 6-footers) just to give a sense of size.....

Oh and we've named this one "Trikezilla"...... :snooty:

I would definently recommend that you consider a "Hossack" front suspension for this trike , mainly because of the weight that the front end will be carrying !!

With that suspension you can use a McPherson strut out front and hide it !

The bare frame in the two pics give it a good perspective as to the wow
factor it will project out on the street.

Keep up the pics, this will be a good one. :banana-dance:

After a change in ownership of this project and lots of unexpected delays and disagreements, we finally took the hard decision to cancel the build and return it to the new owner. Sometimes you know when its time to back away.... :hand:

yeah, this one looks like it was gonna be a bear of a build anyway. i'm sure you had it under control, but with changing owners/visions and then if there were disagreements too...

sometimes backing away is the hardest thing to do even though it's the right move. kudos to you for knowing when to call it and for having the guts to do it.
