got this 40 over springer the other day. got to find a frame then stretch it 4 out and 8 up with about a 55 degree rake. trail should be about 15 inches. that's good right? (sarcasm)

well i found out the trail was going to be about 18 inches. that was too much for me so i did this. i got the idea from mr moore. he does this to get the trail back in line. mine should be about 8 inches.

started with this. did'nt work too good.

ended up cutting it out with cutoff wheels.

old and new.

i still have to do the final cleanup and get this aligned and welded. adding this will give me 6 degrees over the stock one.

Brillant idea and nice work and wish I had that collection of bikes!!

I am a little slow sometimes and was wondering???

It looks like a negative trail of 8in!!!???

Am I looking at it wrong????

this what i started with. this bar is centered on the rear leg. so the center of the bar is about 18 inches. now when i bring back the stem it should be around 8 inches or so. i am by no means a mathamagician and i'm pretty much flying by the seat of my pants.but the way i figure it at 18 inches of trail i couldn't go wrong by deraking the stem 6 degrees.
Image
this is the way it sat with the 18 inches of trail. everything will be the same except the stem will be deraked and the rake will be at 55 degrees instead of 60.
