I started cutting the slots in the legs for the rockers. I'm not sure if there is enough material left. The slots are 7/16 & there is 3/8 on either side left. The problem is I still need to take a little off the out side so the bolts will have flat areas to sit on. Also is this plate thick enough to use for the rockers. The bike is maybe 450lbs.

I have a springer with 3/8 rockers too. Made in the 70s & they're still straight. The ones for this build will be pretty short, but think I'm gonna go with 7/16. I also started on new legs with more material at the bottom.... thanks man

SELF INTRODUCTION: I was on the last board as bonustoolkit. I have changed that to my given name.
I started a project build there " File and Fit." I paln to continue that when I go back home in Dec. 2011. I first joined the board when Gary W had it in the year 2005. That was the time I really gained an interest in building chops. I have a long way to go, compared to some here.

I cut a slot in my rear legs and welded in a tab, 3/8 thick. I used 1 1/4 Inch tubing for the rear legs.

I'm sure what you are doing will work fine.Your pivot bolt will be held by the slot. Solid material looks pretty strong.

I wasn't feeling to confident in the legs, so made up some new lowers. I'll be able to step up to 7/16 for the rockers have room for bushings & still have 1/2 left on either side. Much happier with these.
