Is there a test for ignition module?

Does anybody know a test for ignition modules? My Sportster won''t rev above a fast idle and I've exhausted all the causes I can think of. Only thing I can think of is the module but I want to be 100% sure before coughing up a couple of hundred for a new one.
Anyone got a test that doesn't require workshop space at NASA?

Yes go to this thread and build one of these.
Use your ignition module instead of the Hei one used here.
All the parts can be bought from radio shack for under 20$

Would you like a few pages for troubleshooting the ignition system for a '96 Buell. Includes the module in the diagram and write up.

No. In the end it was quicker to strip every system off the the loom until only the igniton module was a possibility. Not as big a job as it sounds becuase my Sportster's loom is pretty minimal. I've got a Dyna programmable ignition module on order at the moment. Harley no longer make the module for '93 Sportsters (which is a bit rich when you consider the mileage they get out of the 'back in the day' vibe). The Dyna set up sits in the nose cone on the cam cover and does away with the external module, so less clutter and less wires to hide. All very nice but I could have done without the expense this close to X-mas. Still I should be back on the road in a week or two so I can't complain.
I might ask my son if he'd build me one of those testers though, he at uni doing engineering at the moment and I've got a birthday coming up.

FYI, on my 91 FXR, I had probems with the coils wires vibrating next to the coils and work hardening. That caused cracking,
which gradually became worse and worse, causing at first an intermittent miss, which worsened. Was a bitch (for me) to troubleshoot.
When I found it, I shortened the wires and wrapped them to the coil with electrical tape. That left a long distance for the wire to move.
I guess the tight connection at the terminal didn't allow enough movement.
93 Sportster is likely similar.
