SELF INTRODUCTION: Hi Dan, thanks for your time and energy spent on this new board. I hope you will give me a waiver on the email account, I have used gmail so long I don't have a clue what my service provider account is.
I just returned home from a 2 week trip in New Mexico, have a few good pix, can't wait to share my off-highway traveling. Got to put 1400 miles on the scoot.

SELF INTRODUCTION: So,...I guess I'm a newb. Can I get my "General Smart-Ass" moniker back, or do I actually have to build something. Like a chopper for example. I am hoping to re-start a build that's been sitting in my shop for a couple years with most of the parts already acquired.
Just wanted to thank Dan and anyone else involved in getting this board up and running.
Dan is a personal friend of mine and one of the finest people I know. I have a world of respect for him, not just for his work here but also for reasons beyond this forum.
Not sure if that's 200 words, but that's my intro and I'm sticking to it.
BTW, I'm Mark. Not Indian, just a fanatic of the motorcycle brand.

SELF INTRODUCTION: I once was the "CAD Wizard", now I'm a "CAD What's it"!!!

Wow! 200 words? I don't even know 200 words! And I can't spell the words that I do know! … but, here it goes:

So, I've had a blast in the past on the old CBH forum, and I truly appreciate all information I've gathered there. I've met some great people at the old site. My collaboration with John (hosedragger) on his various projects was quite rewarding, a virtual sense of accomplishment. Thanks to Ken (blacsmith), I’ve had the opportunity to interact with my fellow countrymen, as well as other like-minded individuals.

I've recently joined the ever-increasing number of unemployed people here in Quebec, Canada. I still have a passion for motorcycles and nearly everything else that is motorized and mechanized, although my funds are limited more now than they’ve ever been. So, I must continue to live my passion vicariously thru the fellow members of this board … if they’ll allow it. Maybe, I might even have the opportunity to participate in conversations, thought-swapping, and interesting projects.

I’m a man-of-few-words! I do hope this is enough to gain acceptance here.

Thank, Wendell (Kraut) Pehlemann

Well the sad day came my friends. My OL said she wants me to get the bike out of the dining room by summer.

So.......started pulling everything apart today and hopefully by the end of tomorrow I will be dropping off the frame at the painters to get a matching shade of Red paint.

Darn women! It looks waaaaaay better than a silly table. Beside we already have a table in the kitchen. Why do we need a spare one in another room?

Maxthegardener....I almost missed your post. sorry man. Yes there is a piston in the hydraulic clutch cover. In the piston is a tiny thrust bearing and oil seal.

They are almost too easy to make but sure look cool.
sometime this week I will try and post a simple drawing of how to easily make a simple one...then it will be up to ppl as to how intricate they make their own! -John

well for those that thought this bike was dead in the water....I am back (although on a limited basis) Life is way too busy...home renovations grrrrrr

I called my bike painting guy that did the tins and told him to get cracking on the frame.
They are sanding the powdercoat to make the paint stick. Paint will now be a dead on match for the tins.

The downtube will be painted to more closely resemble a firehose. Something like in this pic although the main color will be similar if not the same as the rest of the bike.
I redid the chain tensioners. The old system was oval inserts with 1" holes for the axle. I made them up with the holes in 1/16" differences. When the chain wore...you pulled the axle back and put in the next insert to tighten the chain up 1/16"

Pain in the ASS!... so I made a more typical arangement of a tightening screw from the rear.

Once the painter has some progress pics I will post them here.
Sure wish I had took his advice and painted the frame and tins at the same time instead of PC'ing the frame.
