Got my primer and sprayable filler. Getting ready to shoot epoxy primer. Need to wipe every part down with the paint thinner to clean and tape off what does not get painted.









Paint will be here next week it is a House of Colors F-22 royal blue metal flake sprayed on a black base coat. The paint guy said the black base is the easiest to see if I got full coverage. It should sparkle and look like glitter.



Never sprayed a 2 stage paint before always sprayed acrilic enamel single stage paints. They say if I want heavy flake I will have to learn how. This is the best video I found how to do. It shows how with cheap Harbor Frieght guns that I also got. May or may not be a up grade from my 30-40 yr old guns I have now. Anything will look better than rusted steel at this point?

I don't think you will have a problem use the bigger tip for the flake with that realize your spraying the paint heavier with the bigger tip . so its a little easier to run but I find bike parts are harder to screw up because of their size . I tend to spray lots of candy colors I was taught always front to back never side to side no mater what you paint so you don't get tiger stripes. a good 60- 40 overlap 40 being the overlap . spray it just wet enough to flow without runs runs in candy or flake mean start over theres no fixin it . you can always add more coats to get the effect but once it runs the pearl or flake blotches up and you see it for a mile . and that's a good old school trick with the nuts to keep the flake mixed shake constant it settles fast with big flake and clogs the tip . don't use internal filters it clogs with flake but keep the little plastic thing on the top of the cap just make the hole a little bigger not much it really helps keep the paint from dripping on your painted surface just keep a toothpick to poke the hole open if it clogs . u said you already paint so im sure you wont have a prob cant wait to see it

Will be a learning curve but, it has to be better just because I will be able to ride it after. I am at the point where rattle can black I would be happy with just for the ability to ride her every day.

Been painting cars since I was a kid. Have painted atleast 40 cars and trucks. Have put many runs on some of them also I had to sand off! ha ha ha

with that kind of experience I don't see you having a problem . the only problem I see you having is you will be putting flake in everything after you do the first one theres just something about that sparkle in the sun. the more I learn to do the more I realize I need to learn its a vicious cycle

I will never use anything else.

The results all have turned out very well.

I got a full suit and a mask latex gloves will still get covered in glitter I bet?

The state of the Art, may or may not be better than nothing at all Air Ventaliation/Filtration unit has been installed in the paint booth. The smaller fan on top blows air in and the larger one on bottom blows air out.

Doing the final metal prep before primer on all the parts. Mix 1 part each Phosphric Prep and Etch, Distilled Water, Denatured Alcohol in a spray bottle. This will clean and etch the metal for the primer.

Hope to have all the bolt holes with bolts in them, the area not painted taped, plastic covers over the bearing surfaces, metal preped, and in primer tonight. Then scuff and get the spray on filler shot on thrusday. If I can get to there sanding most next week.

The air has been profesilonally installed to the building now.[HA] The regulator in and water trap is mounted line. Getting real close to having a booth now!

Every part has been cleaned with the second metal etch and sprayed with lacqor to prepare for primer. Just got to clean my gun and mix primer now.

She is in primer now. Now it begins with color! May only be gray at the moment.

Split the parts not needed to be shot with the spray on filler away and covered, Scuffed all the needed parts until the shine was gone. Cleaned and prepped with laquor. Next step spray the Filler.

Got the first round of the filler shot. Tomorrow I can sand it and then see where I need to add bondo.
