So heres my 79 xt500. Built the frame a few yrs back. I did the axle plates with a grinder and die grinder, actually did just about everything with those 2, used a level and plumbbobs and followed garys write ups, except for the axle plates those I copied blackjacks design off the font, the frame is not to much different then the old harley frame geometry from garys plans.. i built a drop seat frame first and messed up a measurement then decided old school style is where its all at..
A quick mock up, I didnt take any pics of the frame build, it was about 5 yrs ago now

no pics of progress to this point, usually just read and dont post so this is getting to be a new thing, shareing my progress with projects so jumping ahead

So my tailight started as a piece of aluminum square stock, and a brass housing I turned down just messing around,I am a avid follower of selectgrubs work, haveing studied his how to write ups, I was finally eager to try to apply myself to this art form,as I was thinking about it I stubled onto a gold ring on the ground, I took it as a sign and cut it up.
Here it is before being epoxied together, I have tapped the housing and the mount and made a hollow threaded connector, and drilled a hole to run wires through it all.

The rear fender is my ironhead fender I cut a inch or so out of and welded up, I wanted a narrow fender
Image
So i dont know if I will run this yet but mess with it a bit here and there, I orderd a light kit from led supply with a aluminum housing, so I start with this
Image
And here the aluminum piece fits the brass, I was going to make it out of brass to but the aluminum will look good all polished up
Image
So a bit of milling and drilled a through hole, screwed in a connector hollow threaded rod and drilled through in from below then welded and grinded the through hole up and radiused it (grinding) Image
