And got it cleaned up. Then welded in the sleeves for the bushings and pressed in the bushings.
This is the spare parts engine and vw trans that I have to use for mocking up.
I am keeping the J spec engine safe in the corner.

More mock ups of rear frame and suspension.
A full 13 degree angle on the axles at bottom out.....which is all a type 1 cv joint will handle.

Just lost a long winded post.
I guess it took too long and times out?
So maybe later in bits and pieces.

I made up the "front" engine mount attachment using the original rubber mount on the engine that was attached to the fender well of the donor car.
Then got the elephant ears located and tacked down too.
Also worked up the rear cross member that ties together the back of the notch and the shock towers.

That is a VW gearbox I have been using for mock up purpose.
But I did go get the Porsche 901 side shifter trans.
I will probably open it up to check things out.
It was in a running functional car.....until the car got wrecked.

I will probably have to make a flywheel.
But I would like to use the mazda clutch if I can get it into the bell housing.
So next is getting the trans fitted up and making the rear most sub frame to hold the tail of trans, radiator and hood hinge.

Re: Death By SnuSnu's Vokaro
I did decide to go with the Mazda pressure plate.
I have a Jetta TDI STD shift diesel starter coming. I think I can modify it to fit around the Mazda pressure plate.
Right now the plan is to thin down the Mazda flywheel so the clutch sticks out the right amount.
Then use a type 5 vw disc.
And a type 1 throw out bearing.
Modify the 901 fork .
Cut the starter ring off a vw type 1 flywheel and put it on the Mazda flywheel.
Then make an adapter for the Jetta starter. It has a long nose and the same bendix gear as a type 1. All to get the bendix to the right depth and reach around the Mazda pressure plate.

STOP NOW.
All the disc brakes made up.
Had to get them "blank".....as in not finish machined.
Then I had to make them fit my metric Enkie wheels.
So....all sleeved and bolt patterned.
