- SELF INTRODUCTION: I'm from Arkansas. Farm equipment mechanic. Love working on bikes with my 7yr old daughter. Single dad. Doing it all on my own. Good standing member over on the Honda rebel forum and TCU forum. My first chopper build was a Honda Rebel 250. Looking for a big brother to it. A Honda Rebel 450. I'm wanting to build a girder for the 250 and was told that this is the place to come for knowledge and help.

Neck bearings arrived today also.
Tree's dropped off at lunch to have them drilled out to 15/16. Will work them out to size from there.

Yes sir. There is quite a bit of machine work in this. Trying to keep a balance between machine and me. That way I can say it's mine at the end of the day. Not all bought.budoka wrote:just curious, but how did you cut out the trees? do i feel a handheld grinder in there? i *am* quite partial to my grinder.

Melted a little steel a min ago.
It was set low when I tacked it. Welded sheet metal with it last.
She is set HOT now.

Re: Building a Girder for my Honda Rebel 250
You are right there was very little penatration. Almost none. But in the second picture I changed over to a different welder. The first machine had a board burnt up in it. Retacked and welded it with the hotter welder.krymis wrote:still looks like the weld is sitting on top of the metal

Starting to look like a tree now.
Got the stem fitted up, cut and now welded.
Painted the top tree to keep it from rusting for now.
