Re: Irish's CBH CR200
Hey y'all I started back on this project. I got the frame tacked up and partially welded out. I bolted it together to check the look. Its ten feet long.

Re: My new bike.... to me ... ; )
The primary chain on mine was stretched too far to adjust properly. If you pull the inspection cover you can check the slack in the chain. I pulled it apart and installed a new chain from Drag. I also installed one of those Hayden spring loaded chain tensioners. I inspected the clutch and it looked ...

Re: My new bike.... to me ... ; )
Nice bike Yona! I just bought this '88 FX Softail for $5,200 and then dumped another $1k into it for tires (not installed yet), brakes, bars, risers, grips, primary chain, seat, pipes (not installed yet), CV Performance carb kit etc, etc...But when they don't need anything you can get 6-7k for them ...

Re: Irish's CBH CR200
It's starting to look like a frame. Almost time to stick some pipe together.

Re: Irish's CBH CR200
I figured out the final bend for the lower tubes. I rotated the tube 0.750" and made a 46* bend in to the center to bring the tubes together at the down tube. I just need to finish cutting the miters. It turned out looking pretty good I think. I'm not sure how I'll finish the bottom of the down...

Re: Irish's CBH CR200
I cut out the axle plates and machined the slot with the help of my bro and his Bridgeport. We also cut out the rear motor and front trans mounts and the forward mounts. I also bent up the left side lower tube and it matches the right side nicely. I wanted to put the large 66" radius bend in th...

Re: Updated springer build rules
irish, from my riding style i have found that a 200% larger rear tire is the best size to use compared to the front. So if you have a 100mm front tire a 200mm rear tire goes right with the stated idea. This is especially helpful when you go with a real skinny or real fat rear tire in adjusting the ...

Re: Irish's CBH CR200
This where I have stopped because now I need to figure out the rotation and angle for the next bend. Due to the fact that I'm using a single down tube, I want to make this joint look "right". I am using Garys cr250-4 plans for this portion, but it's difficult to figure out because the bend...

Re: Irish's CBH CR200
Moving on to the front, measure 17" from the end of the "out" bend and mark the tube. This is the first bend of the "ramp" up in front of the motor. The tube is angled in toward the center of the bike 10* also, so you will need to rotate the tube in the proper direction depe...

Re: Irish's CBH CR200
OK, I finally figured out the best way to bend these lower rails on the 200. Here's how: Start at the rear and measure out 15" and mark the tube. I found a piece of material that fits snug over the tube so I can make a line around the tube. Make the first bend, which I figured out on my bender ...

Re: Updated springer build rules
Very interesting krymis. I've been studying all you guys have written on springers. I will use these rules to check the bike I'm building and the springer I'm using. It's an old Randy Enterprises. It's 34.5 from the top of the lower tree to the CL of rear leg pivot. Anyway...I am using a 200 rear an...
