SELF INTRODUCTION: Hi, Been building and riding since the 60s. My last contest build made The Horse BC last year "Home Built Indian" and had a 40 Indian in the TCU section of the Horse BC the year before. Iv'e answered to Dusty since 69 Thanks Dusty
Started slotting the drive gear on the sporty pump. Strangest setup I've ever made. An end mill would polish it a little This was actually pretty quick. I started grinding the teeth off and something broke in the lathe power feed so I'm headed in the lathe repaiir direction next.
Presto a .170" X .330" slot.

I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe
But at least I'm enjoying the ride, at least I'll enjoy the ride.

Band aided the lathe back together maybe good enough to last until the new parts get here. But for sure long enough to get rid of those pesky gear teeth and make it fit into the adapter.
I now have a Sportster oil pump that drives by a slot and tang.

This ought to make all the pristine parts restoration crowd cringe. Grinding the end off the front cam to get to the distance I need to grind the tang that will fit into the slot in the timer drive I'm going to make.

Got the drive tabs ground onto the cams and the cams in place hopefully for a while. As far as I can on the adapter until I can until the timer is built and I just started making the shaft. If I was going to do anything with the bike other than race at Bonneville I would either shorten the pump or drive it with a worm gear and hang it to the bottom like the Sporty it came off of.

Getting a little closer to shape. The timer rides on the outer bearing race that sets proud of the adapter with a slot and guide plate on the outside The reluctor mounting plates that allow each reluctor to be time seperately are made but the photo didn't come out.
