SELF INTRODUCTION: Hi Dan, thanks for your time and energy spent on this new board. I hope you will give me a waiver on the email account, I have used gmail so long I don't have a clue what my service provider account is.
I just returned home from a 2 week trip in New Mexico, have a few good pix, can't wait to share my off-highway traveling. Got to put 1400 miles on the scoot.

Blue Dots

Post by railroad bob »

Blue dots on taillights used to be a thing years ago. Customizers would place a faceted round blue glass in a strategic location on a taillight to add some flair.
At night the combination of the red glow from the lights would combine with the blue glow and emit a purple aura near the glass dot.
I have one on my 91 FXR and I used to have a 91 Chevy truck with a couple.
I've asked over the years at different shops (not much, I don't go to shops much anymore) and if they have them, they're always plastic.

I recently did a search and found glass blue dots on Speedway site. $10 gets a pair with a chrome ring to mount it in. The ring has four tabs.
Place the dot inside the tabs, bend them tightly to hold in place. Drill a hole in the lens, glue the assembly into the lens.

I'll try to load some pix but this -25F seems to cause problems with my net connection.
