- SELF INTRODUCTION: My name is Ken Heaton. I've been in the medical field in the Army for the past 18 years and work on and build bikes as a hobby. My main hobby and goal is to think of parts that do not exist and make them or modify existing parts. I currently own a 99 Softtail that I bolted together, a 78 Triumph bobber that i built from the ground up, a 75 CB360 cafe, and a 76 Kawasaki KH500 that needs a lot of work. I joined the original forum about 8 years ago and I'm glad to see it up and running again!

well i found out the trail was going to be about 18 inches. that was too much for me so i did this. i got the idea from mr moore. he does this to get the trail back in line. mine should be about 8 inches.
started with this. did'nt work too good.
/albums/k92/jbfrmca/IMG_2293_zps5c04978a.jpg[/IMG]
ended up cutting it out with cutoff wheels.
old and new.
i still have to do the final cleanup and get this aligned and welded. adding this will give me 6 degrees over the stock one.

Re: new project on deck
this what i started with. this bar is centered on the rear leg. so the center of the bar is about 18 inches. now when i bring back the stem it should be around 8 inches or so. i am by no means a mathamagician and i'm pretty much flying by the seat of my pants.but the way i figure it at 18 inches of trail i couldn't go wrong by deraking the stem 6 degrees.
this is the way it sat with the 18 inches of trail. everything will be the same except the stem will be deraked and the rake will be at 55 degrees instead of 60.

- SELF INTRODUCTION: So,...I guess I'm a newb. Can I get my "General Smart-Ass" moniker back, or do I actually have to build something. Like a chopper for example. I am hoping to re-start a build that's been sitting in my shop for a couple years with most of the parts already acquired.
Just wanted to thank Dan and anyone else involved in getting this board up and running.
Dan is a personal friend of mine and one of the finest people I know. I have a world of respect for him, not just for his work here but also for reasons beyond this forum.
Not sure if that's 200 words, but that's my intro and I'm sticking to it.
BTW, I'm Mark. Not Indian, just a fanatic of the motorcycle brand.

- SELF INTRODUCTION: Hi Dan, thanks for your time and energy spent on this new board. I hope you will give me a waiver on the email account, I have used gmail so long I don't have a clue what my service provider account is.
I just returned home from a 2 week trip in New Mexico, have a few good pix, can't wait to share my off-highway traveling. Got to put 1400 miles on the scoot.
